ST. PAUL [09/01/20]–Today, U.S. Senator Tina Smith’s campaign announced that the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation PAC has endorsed her for re-election to the U.S. Senate because of her work on behalf of Minnesota farmers and rural communities.
When she arrived in Washington, Senator Smith fought for and won a spot on the Senate Agriculture Committee and has a proven track record of working across party lines to get results for Minnesotans, especially in helping author key parts of the bipartisan 2018 Farm Bill.
“Farmers and ranchers are the backbone of Minnesota and their success is critical to making our state thrive economically,” said Sen. Smith. “I’m proud to have earned the endorsement of the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation PAC, and I believe I have their support because they know they can count on me to work with them in Minnesota and across party lines in the Senate to get results. I’ve always been willing to dive in, work hard, and get things done. That’s exactly what I intend to keep doing so Minnesota farmers’ and ranchers’ voices are heard in Congress, and so we can make our state’s farm economy prosperous again.”
Since coming into the Senate, Sen. Smith has prioritized supporting Minnesota farmers. She helped craft the bipartisan Farm Bill that passed in 2018, which made it easier to expand broadband access in rural areas and help young farmers get started. Along with championing the Farm Bill, Sen. Smith has helped secure millions of dollars to expand telehealth and improve rural health care in the major coronavirus relief package, successfully pushed for improvements to the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), and supported expanding the use of farmer-grown renewable energy through a strong Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).
Sen. Smith said that while the past few years have been difficult for agriculture, she understands that when farmers succeed, all of Minnesota succeeds. She said she is honored to receive this endorsement and will continue to work to better support Minnesota farmers.
