New Ad: Tina Smith Will Move ‘Hell Or High Water’ To Help Minnesotans During COVID-19 Pandemic

Sen. Smith Debuts New TV Ad Focused on Building Back Better from COVID-19 Pandemic

ST. PAUL [10/09/20]–Today, U.S. Senator Tina Smith’s re-election campaign released a new TV ad that highlights Sen. Smith’s willingness and ability to work across the aisle to get things done and how COVID-19 has affected Minnesotans’ lives.

“This pandemic is like an earthquake that’s shaken our lives and highlighted our challenges,” Sen. Smith says in the new ad. “I will move hell or high water to do what it takes to help my fellow Minnesotans.”

The ad, titled “Earthquake,” highlights how Sen. Smith has gone to work during the pandemic to get direct relief to Minnesotans and help businesses stay afloat and recover.

Sen. Smith worked across the aisle to help pass several COVID-19 relief packages for Americans. She championed a provision to provide free COVID-19 testing as a part of the relief package and introduced a bill that would require private health insurance plans to cover future COVID-19 vaccines when they are available. Additionally, Sen. Smith helped introduce legislation to address the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on communities of color. The ad also references Sen. Smith’s work across the aisle to successfully get her bill to help lower the price of insulin signed into law, and her commitment to helping strengthen our communities.

The 30-second ad starts running statewide on Friday, October 9. It will run on broadcast, cable and digital.

Here is the full transcript of the ad:

Earthquake

“This pandemic is like an earthquake that’s shaken our lives and highlighted our challenges.

“Like helping people and businesses recover, while building a stronger and more just America.

“And that’s why I’ll work with anyone, in either party, to get things done in the Senate.

“One example: I’ve taken on the drug companies to make lower cost drugs like insulin available.

“I’m Tina Smith, and I approve this message because I will move hell or high water to do what it takes to help my fellow Minnesotans.”
